Connacht Juniors nod for Dan
Congratulations to the University of Galway Men's player of the year Daniel O'Connor who has been selected for the extended panel of the Connacht Juniors! Dan is in his final year in UG, studying Commerce. The Mullingar native has been playing for the college since 2022, rising through the u20s ranks straight to senior rugby. We wish Dan all the best from UG. Dan is also set to start on the bench for the Connacht Juniors’ 1st match vs Leinster Juniors in Ballyhaunis on the 25/04/2026.

Senior Men’s retain J1B status in the relegation play-off against Corrib
In a hard‑fought contest between University of Galway and Corrib on the 29th of May, UG started strongly, scoring three early tries and taking control of the match. Corrib’s discipline proved costly, with the side receiving five yellow cards over the course of the game.
Despite this, Corrib battled bravely and stayed in the fight until around the 60‑minute mark, when UG pulled away decisively. The match finished 34–10, a well‑earned victory for University of Galway.
Massive win for our girls who sit 2nd in the table
The game began at a frantic pace, with UG asserting dominance early through their powerhouse pack. The university side utilised their superior fitness to spread the ball wide, finding gaps in the Ballinrobe line. However, Ballinrobe refused to back down, answering every UG score with physical carries and clever tactical kicking that kept the scoreboard ticking over.
By halftime, UG held a slim lead, but in the second half, the students shifted into another gear.
A flurry of tries midway through the second period ultimately pulled the game out of reach for the South Mayo visitors.
