UG women’s Fall short of Plate Victory over Galwegians 17-24

The game began at a frantic pace, with UG asserting dominance early through their powerhouse pack. The university side utilised their superior fitness to spread the ball wide, finding gaps in the Ballinrobe line. However, Ballinrobe refused to back down, answering every UG score with physical carries and clever tactical kicking that kept the scoreboard ticking over.

Unfortunately, in the Second half, Galwegians came out of the blocks fast and scored 2 back-to-back tries, putting the pressure back on UG to try and stay in the game. The girls showed great resilience in defence but fell short on the day, losing the game by a try
